More than 800 applicants competed to secure one of 130 new positions with the world’s largest hotel chain, before it opens its first flagship hotel in Adelaide, mid next month.
The five-star Adelaide Marriott Hotel held one of the biggest recruitment days on Thursday, in a bid to fill more than 130 roles for teams across different departments such as front office and Food and Beverage.
Marriott International is set to open the luxury hotel on the corner of King William and Franklin St by August this year.
Since online registrations launched General Manager Paul Gallop, said the 850 viable interview spots were quickly secured by eager applicants for their Recruitment Day.
“We’re on a mission to engage a diverse mix of existing top hotel talents, as well as new entrants to the industry,” Mr Gallop said.
“We are looking for people with passion for hospitality, and an outstanding attitude.
“Our training is second to one so once on-board, you’ll get all the tools needed to continue the Marriott’s legacy of excellence as we take our first footsteps in South Australia.”
Once its doors open, the 15-storey hotel will boast 285 guestrooms, two contemporary dining venues, a fitness studio and 18-metre indoor swimming pool, and a 24-hour executive lounge.
And, more than 762 square metres of meeting and event space – including a large ballroom.
Senior Area director Human resources, Natasha Rasheed said their workplace – which ranks top 10 in Australia’s best workplaces – will eagerly welcome the new recruits to their existing 4,600 associates across the country.
“Our company’s founding philosophy is that when you take care of your people, they take care of your business,” Ms Rasheed said.
