A motorcyclist has collided with a amateur cyclist before being nabbed by police during the men’s third stage at the Tour Down Under in Tea Tree Gully on Thursday.
Police said the crash occured just before 10am when the rider of a blue Yamaha motorcycle mounted the kerb during a U-turn attempt after appearing to notice police in the area around Quarry Track and North East Rd.
The motorcycle struck a stationary amateur cyclist on the roadside, sending both male riders crashing to the ground.
Police at the event were quick to the scene and helped the motorbike rider, who was wearing black pants, a grey top and black Nike shoes, from under the motorbike before pinning him to the ground.

It is expected he will be charged with a number of offences including riding unlicensed, unregistered/uninsured, aggravated riding without due care and disobey direction.
