Married At First Sight’s Jamie Marinos caused a break-up – but it’s a good thing, honest

Adelaide’s Jamie Marinos may be lucky in love (so far) on Married At First Sight, but she has also been the cause of a break-up while on the show. Here’s all we know.

MAFS bride Jamie Marinos is in Adelaide

The impact of being a reality TV star has just got, well … real, for Married At First Sight’s Jamie Marinos.

The 29-year-old, who lives in Melbourne, was recognised while home in Adelaide for the wedding of her friends Natasa and Dusan.

She was at Adelaide Airport when a mother and daughter approached her saying they knew her from Nine Network’s hit show MAFS.

Talking about the encounter exclusively to The Advertiser, Jamie says she shared a moment with the younger woman, who was in her 20s.

“She said to me ‘I just want to thank you … I realised I was in a toxic relationship and I ended it,” Jamie says, adding: “Her mum also said to me ‘You saved my daughter’.”

The experience was further validation for Jamie that she had done the right thing by being her “authentic” self on the show.

“I’m not going to be someone else’s ideal version of me,” Jamie says.

Jamie has become a fan favourite because she is a, in her words, “girl’s girl”.

Viewers also love her frankness and her relationship with her MAFS hubby Dave Hand; the two appear to genuinely like each other.

Early in the series, Jamie confronted another groom Tim Gromie about what she saw as his bad behaviour towards his on-screen wife Katie Johnston during a dinner party.

“I’m so glad I stood up for Katie,” Jamie told The Advertiser at the time the episode aired.

Jamie also revealed, in her latest interview, that she had been praised by someone who remembered her from her school days.

“They told me I stuck up for people being bullied,” Jamie says.

Jamie, who has previously told The Advertiser she would be up for more reality TV after MAFS, also did some filming while in Adelaide for the wedding.

It was for a future episode of Hello SA, which is hosted by Hayley Pearson, Lauren DeCesare and Tom Rehn.

Hayley replaced Ali Clarke on Mix 102.3’s breakfast show after taking a break from radio.
