A man will face court after a drug trafficking police sting in which a car was searched and 8kg of meth found in the state’s Murraylands region.
Police stopped and searched a vehicle on the Princes Hwy, Tailem Bend at 9pm on Tuesday seizing the methamphetamine and $3000 in cash.
The bust was a result of a joint operation including police’s Serious and Organised Crime Branch, Australian Federal Police and NSW Police together with Murray Mallee patrols.
A 32-year-old man from Carlingford, New South Wales, was arrested and has been charged with trafficking large commercial quantities of a controlled drug.
He was refused bail and will appear before the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on Wednesday, September 18.
Detective Superintendent Shane Addison said the bust was an example of police’s commitment to working with law enforcement agencies to “identify and disrupt the illicit trade, which causes serious harm to the community”.
“This operation has prevented a significant quantity of methamphetamine from being distributed into the South Australian community where it would have caused further harm and distress,” he said.
