A man has been stabbed during an alleged assault in Adelaide’s northeast.

Police and emergency services were called to Tea Tree Gully just before 6.30pm on Monday, amid reports of a fight.

When police arrived at the scene they found a 53-year-old man with a stab wound to his neck.

The victim was rushed to hospital but police say his injuries are not considered life threatening.

Police arrested the alleged perpetrator at the scene – a 27-year-old man from Ridgehaven who is believed to be the victim’s son. He was interviewed by detectives and later charged with aggravated assault and possession of a prohibited weapon.

He did not apply for bail and will appear before the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today, Tuesday, April 30).

A crime scene investigation van, which had been cordoned off with police tape, was parked outside the Tea Tree Gully home on Monday night.

A neighbour, who was away at the time of the incident, said the residents had kept to themselves since they moved in a couple of years ago.

It was the second stabbing in less than 24 hours in Adelaide, after a 38-year-old Paralowie man was stabbed at a motel at Enfield.

Emergency services were called to the Manhattan Motor Inn, just before 10pm on Sunday, to reports of a violent disturbance.

When police arrived, they found the Paralowie man with an injury to the abdomen.

The suspect had already left the hotel.

The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

CIB detectives and crime scene investigators examined the scene and investigations are continuing.

Police said the incident was not random and it is understood the people involved are known to each other.
