Tensions hit boiling point at the City-Bay finish line between two runners who allegedly were seen fighting after finishing the race.

“They came across the finish line and ducked off to the side and started screaming at each other,” spectator Jessica said

“All the marshalls got involved and at one point the marshall was like ‘stop it’ and was separating them and then the police came.

“There was pushing and shoving and then the other bloke tried to kick him as he was running away and they were trying to separate them apart.”

Jess believed the argument may have stemmed from a disagreement between the pair during the race.

“I reckon they just got under each other’s skin,” she said.

“It was like a full punch up.”

Another witness denied seeing any punches thrown but said that the runners, who are believed to be male, were bumping chests and yelling.

“The police were here pretty quick so it was all over just like that,” the volunteer said.

“But who knows what would have happened if they had not come.”

It is believed that one of the runners was taken away by police while the other individual involved fled the scene.
SA Police said there was a dispute but it did not escalate to a physical fight.

“(We) are aware of a verbal dispute between two participants, but no physical altercation occurred,” a spokesperson said.

“Both people were spoken to and no criminal offences identified at this time.”
