Rod Stewart confirms he will perform in Adelaide after Geelong concert cancelled

Rod Stewart cancelled his Saturday concert in Victoria citing illness – but the show will “definitely” go on in Adelaide, the superstar rocker has confirmed.

Adelaide fans can take a sigh of relief, superstar Rod Stewart will be performing as scheduled on Tuesday night following his recovery from a viral infection.

Victorian fans of Stewart – due to perform in Adelaide on Tuesday night – and fellow music legends Cyndi Lauper and Jon Stevens, were left devastated after the trio’s long-awaited performance at Geelong’s A Day on the Green festival was called off at the eleventh hour.

Just after midday on Saturday, Stewart revealed their appearance at Mt Duneed Estate had been cancelled “due to illness”.

However a spokesperson for Stewart’s tour has revealed his performance at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre Arena on Tuesday night is “definitely still on”.

Stewart went to Instagram to reassure his Adelaide fans that he will in fact be performing at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre despite a “slight setback”.

“My dear friends in Adelaide just to guarantee that the show will be going ahead,” he said.

“I had a slight setback here in Melbourne, I had to miss a show because I had strep throat.

“But I’m fine now and I’ll be there and looking forward to it.”

Later on Saturday Stewart posted to his Instagram, “Hello, my friends. I’m absolutely downhearted that I’m disappointing my fans who bought tickets to A Day on the Green.

“Late this morning I was advised that I have a viral infection and my throat is too irritated to sing. I’m only human and sometimes get sick just like you do.

“My greatest joy is performing for you, so I’m doing everything I can to get on the mend and back on stage!”

However Stewart’s performance in Adelaide has been confirmed, with ticket outlets continuing to sell tickets to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre Arena concert.

Booking website Ticketmaster apologised for the cancellation of the Victorian show.

It asked fans for patience as further details were to be announced regarding the show in the coming days.
