Injuries reported after serious crash between truck and car on Eyre Highway at Port Augusta West

At least one person has been injured after a serious crash between a truck and car in the state’s Far North on Sunday night.

At least one person has been injured after a serious crash between a truck and car in the state’s Iron Triangle on Sunday night.

Emergency services were called to Eyre Highway, Port Augusta West, just after 8.40pm after reports the truck had collided with a station wagon.

Early details are unclear but it is understood at least one person has been seriously injured.

Emergency specialist MedStar paramedics were later called.

Police said road closures are being enforced around the crash site, which was 1km southwest of the city’s airfield heading towards the Eyre Peninsula.

Major Crash investigators are monitoring developments.

Officers urged motorists to avoid the area if possible.

The highway is the main thoroughfare between Port Augusta and the Western Australia border.
