A man has been caught on camera stealing a charity box from a Yorke Peninsula hotel. But that wasn’t the only thing that sent the internet into a frenzy. Watch the video.

A man has sent the internet into meltdown after a “low act” and comparison to a famous face.

The furore erupted when he was caught on security camera swiping a charity box from the bar of a small-town pub on the Yorke Peninsula.

Footage posted to Facebook by the Coobowie Hotel shows the man eyeing the Walk the Yorke charity donation box on Friday evening about 9.30pm.

He can be seen sizing up the box before he slides it off the bar and slips it under his shirt.

The post has since been shared nearly 400 times and has attracted more than 100 comments.

And while many users were shocked and outraged by the man’s “low” act, there was something else that caught many people’s attention.

“Is that Russell Crowe,” one woman asked.

“I had to look twice as well,” responded another.

As well as posting the footage on social media, the hotel asked the box, and its contents, be returned.

The Walk the Yorke donation box raises money for Backpacks 4 SA Kids and the Southern Yorke Peninsula Royal Flying Doctor Service Support Group, according to the hotel.
