Man, 28, dead after horror motorbike and road train crash on the Augusta Highway at Beaufort

A 28-year-old man has been killed after a crash between a motorbike and road train — the second death on SA roads in 24 hours.

A man has died after a crash between a road train and motorcycle in the state’s mid-north on Thursday night.

At 5.25pm on Thursday, police were called to the Augusta Highway – 4km north of Beaufort after reports of the crash

The 28-year-old motorbike rider, from Hope Valley, died at the scene.

The driver of the road train — a 65-year-old man — was not injured.

The Augusta Highway was closed for several hours while Major Crash investigators examined the circumstances of the crash, but has since reopened.

The man’s death is the 14th life lost on South Australia road so far this year.

A 49-year-old man was also died on Thursday after the truck he was driving crashed into a tree at Brimbago.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage is asked to contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
