A brother and sister have shared why they believe their 16-year-old sibling was attacked in an early morning home invasion

Young siblings have recounted a terrifying violent home invasion in Adelaide’s north, after suspects allegedly assaulted the wrong sibling.

The young siblings of a teenager who was allegedly the target of a terrifying violent home invasion in Adelaide’s north have spoken about their ordeal.

Police said they were called to a house on Edward John Parade, Eyre, after reports three people – two armed with machetes – had broken in at about 2.30am on Thursday morning.

A 16-year-old boy was then allegedly assaulted.

He was later taken to hospital for treatment after sustaining injuries that are not considered to be life threatening.

Three suspects were captured on CCTV footage obtained by 7News, smashing a window beside the front door, before storming into the family’s lounge room.

Once inside, the suspects allegedly moved past an 11-year-old sibling before allegedly attacking the 16-year-old boy.

“I seen (sic) them slash his head, right above his eyebrow with a machete. It was like a very long machete,” the victim’s sister told 7News.

The victim’s sibling said their other big brother was allegedly the target of the attack.

“They thought that the one that they were hitting [was] him,” the brother said.

The 18-year-old man – who lives at the house and was reportedly the target of the attack – was later captured on CCTV footage, chasing the suspects down Edward John Parade.

The young girl told 7News her family believe they know why they were targeted in the home invasion. None of the family are accused of any wrongdoing.

Police say the suspects may have fled the area in a black sedan and believe the incident was not random.

The suspects have not yet been identified or arrested.
