Before making a name for herself on reality TV, the alleged Beauty and the Geek killer competed in a now cancelled raunchy supercars pageant.
Now, the swimwear pageant finalist has been charged with killing and dismembering her partner, more than 2000km from the Sunshine Coast she grew up on.
Cancelled in 2011, the Miss SuperGP competition once ran in conjunction with the Gold Coast 600 in Queensland, with Beauty and the Geek star turned alleged killer Tamika Chesser making it to the finals the year before she appeared on TV.
In 2009, Ms Chesser was a 19-year-old Surfers Paradise resident hoping to take the title of Miss SuperGP among 40 finalists.
Speaking to the Gold Coast Sun at the time, Ms Chesser said it was the first time she’d taken part in the beauty pageant and was shocked to have made it to the finals.
‘‘I came into the competition wanting to do my best but I did not have any real expectations of what would happen,” Ms Chesser, then a teenager, said.
She said the girls she had met in the competition – which judged the young women on several criteria including swimwear and sportswear – were people she could visit all over the country.
‘‘The other girls are all quite nice and because of the friendships I have built, I will have friends across Australia to visit when I travel,’’ she said.
During the pageant campaign, Ms Chesser was also photographed with multiple V8 Supercar drivers.
Ms Chesser was charged with murder on June 19 after emergency services were called to her Port Lincoln home following reports of a house fire.
There, they found the remains of Julian Story – Ms Chesser’s partner.
Since news of her arrest broke around the world, video has emerged of Ms Chesser in the weeks leading up to the alleged killing of Mr Story.
In the footage, her once long blonde locks were replaced with a shaved head, and she is seen screaming in multiple places including a bar and the ocean.
She is currently being held at forensic mental health facility James Nash House, and has been charged with one count each of murder, destroying human remains and assaulting a police officer.
SES volunteers and detectives remain in Port Lincoln searching for Mr Story’s missing head, after revealing at a press conference last week that Ms Chesser had allegedly dismembered Mr Story, before lighting his remains on fire.
She will return to court in December.
