Adelaide-born Succession star Sarah Snook to replace Elisabeth Moss in SA-made horror-thriller

In a shock move, Adelaide’s own Sarah Snook is set to replace the star of The Handmaid Tale as the lead in a new film to be shot in South Australia and Victoria.

Succession superstar Sarah Snook is coming home to South Australia to make the horror-thriller Run Rabbit Run.

Adelaide-born Snook is replacing The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss who was originally cast to play the lead role but had to pull out because of a scheduling conflict.

Snook will play a fertility doctor who knows all about the cycle of life. However, when her young daughter Mia begins acting erratically she must examine her belief system and face a ghost from her past.

Snook who was nominated for, but missed out on, an Emmy for her Succession role has appeared in films such as The Dressmaker, Steve Jobs, Predestination, The Glass Castle, Winchester and Pieces of a Woman.

Run Rabbit Run will be directed by Daina Reid (The Handmaid’s Tale) and filmed in SA and Victoria.

Its script was written by SA novelist Hannah Kent from an original idea developed with Carver Films. Pre-production is scheduled to begin later this month.

Run Rabbit Run’s producers are Carver Films’ Anna McLeish and Sarah Shaw (Relic, Partisan, Snowtown), with Deanne Weir and Olivia Humphrey serving as executive producers.

The film is a production by XYZ Films and 30 West.

Run Rabbit Run has major production investment from XYZ and Screen Australia, in association with Film Victoria, the South Australian Film Corporation, the Adelaide Film Festival Investment Fund and Soundfirm.
