A pair of Adelaide Hills youths will appear before court after allegedly assaulting a teenager and filming the incident before posting it online.

A teenager was assaulted at a Mount Barker shopping centre on January 4 this year, with police alleging a youth kicked and punched the victim while a second youth filmed the attack on his phone.

A Nairne boy, 13, was arrested and charged with assault and a Mount Barker boy, 12, was arrested and charged with engaging in humiliating or degrading filming.

Hills Fleurieu Local Service Area Officer in Charge Superintendent Amit Sareen said the arrests sent a strong message.

“We have a zero-tolerance approach to this type of offending in our community,” he said.

“These arrests should send a very clear message that this behaviour is not acceptable and there will be consequences for such actions.”

The pair were granted police bail to appear in Mount Barker Youth Court on March 1.
