A rainwater thief is still at large after they stole thousand of litres from Adelaide Hills homes

An unusual thief is at large after they stole rainwater from residential tanks at Crafers West in the Adelaide Hills.
During the dead of the night – sometime between Monday and Tuesday – an unknown person stole tens of thousands of litres of rainwater from water tanks on private properties in Hillcrest Ave.
It is suspected a large water truck would have been needed to pump the water from the tanks.
Police are urging anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage of the truck to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.
It comes amid drought conditions across the state and, including in the Adelaide Hills, where Crafers West has had a total of 38.3mm rainfall for the entirety of 2025.
