Simon Ricardo Barra Yaite behind bars on fresh sexual charges
A man accused of indecently assaulting women exercising is behind bars on fresh allegations he inappropriately touched a teenage girl at a Sunshine Coast shopping centre.

A Mountain Creek man accused of indecently attacking women on their afternoon walks has landed in custody accused of more sexual offences.
Simon Ricardo Barra Yaite was awaiting a possible sentence for three counts of sexual assault after police allege he attacked multiple women on their afternoon walks in Mountain Creek, Buderim and Sippy Downs last year.
It can be revealed however the Mountain Creek man was thrust into custody on December 23 last year for allegedly indecently assaulting a 17-year-old girl who was a stranger to him.
Police allege Barra Yaite inappropriately touched the teenager at the Sunshine Plaza in Maroochydore.
The alleged incident was immediately reported to police and Caloundra Child Protection and Investigation Unit detectives arrested the 20-year-old nearby and charged him with two counts of sexual assault and one count of common assault.
He appeared in Caboolture Magistrates Court on Christmas Eve where he was formally refused bail and remanded in custody.
Barra Yaite’s case was mentioned in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday where he faced seven combined charges which included six counts of sexual assault and one of common assault.
Legal Aid lawyer Cherisse Breese said some of his charges were set for sentence however asked for this to be cancelled to allow for all of his charges to be heard together.
Ms Breese asked for a short adjournment as she believed he was at risk of spending too much time in custody.
“That’s laughable,” magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist said.
Barra Yaite made no application for bail and had his matters were adjourned to February 3. No pleas have been entered.
