Simon Gittany’s girl gives him five years or she’s leaving

EXCLUSIVE: Rachelle Louise, the girlfriend of convicted killer Simon Gittany, says he’s got five years to be acquitted or she’s leaving him to have babies.

SHE’S sworn to stand by her man, but Simon Gittany’s girlfriend Rachelle Louise has given the jailed killer five years to be acquitted - or she’s leaving him to start a family with someone else.

In yet another bizarre twist in the balcony murder of Gittany’s Canadian fiance Lisa Harnum, the convicted murderer is facing an additional sentence to the 26 years handed down for killing her - after his current girlfriend Louise told Channel 7’s Sunday Night of her babies ultimatum.

Paid to share her fears and feelings after the Supreme Court’s decision on Tuesday, Louise confirmed her desire to marry Gittany and start a family with him.

Still convinced of his innocence, Louise told reporter Ross Coulthart, “Simon would be the best father ever, he really would be.”

She revealed: “When he got convicted he turned to me and said: `I want you to go and get married and have kids...’ and I do want to start a family of my own someday, I mean, I’m not going to wait that long.”

With 40-year-old Gittany to serve a minimum of 18 years for throwing his fiance Harnum off the 15th floor balcony of their Sydney CBD apartment in July 2011, Louise is asked how long she would wait for her lover to be free.

“Right now, I said he’s got five years. I still want to be optimistic. I truly do believe he has been wrongfully convicted and once we appeal...that he will be acquitted,” adding, “we just need to get the general public aware of all the facts and the appeal.”

GITTANY THE BULLY - AND HIS DESCENT

In part one of the gripping interview, which pulled an audience of 2.4 million viewers last Sunday, Louise vowed to put herself through law school in pursuit of justice for Gittany.

She blamed the media for painting her guilty boyfriend as “a predator’’ after physical comparisons were drawn between Harnum, a former ballerina, and Louise.

When asked, in tonight’s episode, whether it would be easier to just walk away, Louise said: “It would not be easy to walk because I would have to live with this for the rest of my life, that I knew everything about this case.”

Harnum’s grieving family also speak, along with a fingerprint expert who investigates and reconstructs evidence from both the prosecution and defence.

Sunday Night, hosted by Chris Bath, airs 7.40pm tonight on Channel 7.
