Rising prices at the petrol pump, and a growing movement towards convenient, environmentally sustainable transport is driving the uptake of cutting-edge personal transportation devices like electric scooters and e-bikes.
To capitalise on this trend, new Townsville business Segway-Ninebot opened next to the Coffee Club in Castletown Shopping Centre earlier this month, causing shoppers to double-take at its diverse selection of electric vehicles at accessible price points.
Long-term Townsville resident and store owner Kim Tran said she saw the rise in the scooter market, and believed that locals could greatly benefit from an alternative way of commuting.
“We are an authorised reseller for Segway-Ninebot and Roborock. Segway-Ninebot is a leading provider of electric scooters, electric bikes, and innovative personal mobility solutions.” Ms Tran said.
“Roborock is a leading brand in smart home robotics, specialising in robot vacuum cleaners and mops (which were) known for their innovative technology and exceptional performance.”
She said Segway-Ninebot scooters were becoming more popular as the technology evolved to increase their speed and range, attracting a broad range of customers up to 50-years-old, seeking a transport alternative or simply a fun outing.
“We start with kids scooters to high end adult scooters … (with) suspension, which is great for off-roading, with a longer range.
Their most popular products were the Segway-Ninebot E2 and F2 Pro, Lamborghini GoKart, and Roborock Q, S8 Pro Ultra, and Q8 Max+.
Ms Tran selected Castletown to base her business due to it being well-known, with a strong reputation, and a customer demographic which resonated with the brand.
Castletown Centre Manager Kathy Langsford was thrilled to welcome the business, saying its commitment to sustainability and innovation aligned perfectly with the centre’s vision of offering forward-thinking solutions to its customers.
“We are confident that Segway-Ninebot will enhance the shopping experience for our community and provide an alternative for shoppers who are tired of paying high prices for petrol,” Ms Langsford said.
