A global network of Black Lives Matter chapters is being bankrolled by a $17 million fighting fund amid revelations of the movement’s radical Marxist roots and anti-capitalist ideology.

The Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation announced in the US it was putting aside $8.7 million in donations to support grassroots organisers, on top of another $8.7 million fund for its network of affiliate chapters.

It comes as video emerged of one of the three co-founders of the Black Lives Matter organisation, Patrisse Cullors, saying “we are trained Marxists” and “we do have an ideological frame”.

Ms Cullors, who received the Sydney Peace Prize in 2017 and addressed students at Cabramatta, also claims capitalism is an “evil” afflicting the US. In the UK, BLM founder Natalie Jeffers wants followers to fight capitalism and “dedicate ourselves to revolutionary politic power”.

Former FBI investigator Terry Turchie says BLM’s aims are essentially derived from previous violent Marxist organisations such as the Black Panthers and Weather Underground, which engaged in murders and bombings in the 1960s and 1970s and tried to get police to leave black communities.

The former top cop told Sky News’s Outsiders program that the Black Panther organisation had a 10-point plan and “essentially its 10-point plan was the same plan that today’s Black Lives Matter is pushing”.

“It bears a great similarity to what the Black Panther party was saying back then,” he said. “It was a Marxist-Maoist-Leninist organisation. Today we’re seeing the third revolution. This is racism used as an issue to spark a revolution. Today they think they can make this happen.”

In Australia, BLM rallies were organised by a motley collection of groups, including radical student unions.

The main organiser, the Indigenous Social Justice Association, includes organisers from the anti-capitalist Socialist Alliance party. GoFundMe accounts are funding many local indigenous protesters and groups.

One group, calling itself AUBLM, or Australia Black Lives Matter, has radical Marxist aims and has been set up with goal of raising $5 million. It mirrors a UK Black Lives fundraising organisation with the same stated aims.

It says AUBLM is a “coalition of black activists and organisers” and openly states it wants to “dismantle imperialism, capitalism, white-supremacy, patriarchy”.
