Woman sentenced over sexual abuse of 13yo boy

A woman has been sentenced for her role in a disgusting saga that involved the sexual abuse of a teenage boy. Her and her twisted partner then did one final act that saw the victim himself interviewed by police as a suspect.

A false rape complaint was made against a 13-year-old boy who was in fact the victim of heinous sexual abuse at the hands of his depraved accusers.

Emily Jean Taylor-Renolds was on Thursday sentenced for her role in the disgusting saga that was spearheaded and orchestrated by her then twisted psychopathic partner Michael Anthony Holbeck - a child abuser who spent time behind bars with notorious paedophile killer Brett Cowan.

Holbeck had been socialising with the boy north of Brisbane despite attempts by the victim’s mother to warn the 33-year-old and Taylor-Renolds away from her son.

On the day of the offending Holbeck exposed the child to pornography and made attempts to have him have sex with Taylor-Renolds, who was 27 at the time.

The child’s initial refusal was overcome by Holbeck plying him with meth and Taylor-Renolds had sex with the child in front of her partner.

Holbeck and Taylor-Renolds also had sex in front of the child and some of the activity was filmed.

To make matters even worse the couple then made a false rape complaint against the boy who was interviewed by police as a suspect.

“Her remorselessness at the time of offending is obvious,” crown prosecutor Stephen Muir said at Brisbane’s Supreme Court.

“The facts reveal … that Holbeck appears to be the driving force behind them, despite that, though the defendant was nonetheless a central figure.”

The lie was revealed when police were called to the couple’s complex over an argument where Holbeck told police about images of Taylor-Renolds having sex with the child stored on her laptop.

“This is disgusting and morally reprehensible conduct,” Justice Lincoln Crowley said.

“The conduct here involved coaxing and pressuring the complainant child until he overcame his initial objections and reluctance to be involved.

“You together manipulated and enticed him in various ways until he agreed ultimately bribing him with the methamphetamine.”

In a victim impact statement the child detailed how he had been left devastated by the events which destroyed his ability to trust others, led to prolonged homelessness, drug use, thoughts of suicide and self ham and admission to mental health facilities.

“He can’t even sleep at night because he has nightmares and restless sleep as a result of thinking about what happened to him. I hope you appreciate ...that’s the impact of your offending on this young child,” Justice Crowley said.

Taylor-Renolds pleaded guilty to aggravated supply of dangerous drugs to a minor, carnal knowledge with or of children, involving children in making child exploitation material and three counts of indecent treatment of a child.

Her barrister Tracy Thorp said there were some “very unique circumstances” to the case. “Throughout her life Ms Taylor-Renolds has been exposed to emotional and physical abuse and at the time of the offending she was subject to that coercive relationship with Mr Holbeck,” she said.

Justice Crowley said she was a willing participant but accepted her role was “far less” than Holbeck’s who had manipulated and encouraged Taylor-Renolds.

“He used threats and violence and also possibly the use of illicit drug substances to coerce you to participate in various illegal activities,” Justice Crowley said.

“You were driven by fear to comply with his demands. That I accept was the main motivation for you involving yourself in these offences.”

One of Taylor-Renold’s doctors found Holbeck presented with “severe psychopathic tendencies” and “took almost complete control of your life”.

At the time of his sentence of three years for the offending Holbeck, after being assaulted, was living in the same unit as Cowan who murdered Sunshine Coast teenager Daniel Morcombe in 2003.

The court heard Taylor-Renolds suffered a range of conditions including PTSD, Aspergers, epilepsy, ADHD and autism spectrum disorder and that her reasoning to know what she was doing to the child was diminished and she feared violent reprisal from Holbeck if she didn’t do what he wanted.

Justice Crowley accepted her moral culpability was reduced as a result.

She was sentenced two years jail suspended from Thursday with six days of presentence custody declared as time served.

She was also ordered to carry out a year’s probation.
