A woman is critically injured and fighting for life after a truck and car collided south of Brisbane.

A woman is fighting for life after a crash involving a truck and vehicle collision south of Brisbane.

Emergency services were called to Mandew Street in Shailer Park at 12.58pm after a truck transporting an excavator collided with a car.

The crash left a woman in her 60s with life-threatening injuries. She suffered severe chest pain after being encapsulated in her car but was removed by fire crews shortly after the collision.

She was travelling with an infant who was treated for minor injuries.

Paramedics transported her to Princess Alexandra Hospital and the infant to Queensland Children's Hospital.
