A teenage cyclist who was hit by a car on Brisbane’s bayside has undergone surgery for two broken legs and remains stable, as police launch investigations into the crash.

The teen’s father Andre Vesovic told The Courier-Mail his son was on an afternoon ride on March 29, when he was struck by a white Holden Commodore just after 2pm on Old Cleveland Road East, Wellington Point.

“He’s recovering, had surgery on his legs last night,” Mr Vesovic said.

“My wife got the call yesterday.”

Emergency services rushed to the scene following reports a car had struck a male pedestrian with the teenager taken to the Queensland Children’s Hospital where he was treated for significant leg injuries.

The driver of the white Holden Commodore, a 17-year-old male, and his 18-year-old female passenger were uninjured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Police are calling for anyone with dash cam or CCTV footage to contact crime stoppers.
