A Sunshine Coast family is grieving their beloved country dad and grandfather – who loved pigging, beer and bonfires with his mates – after he sadly lost a lengthy and cruel battle with cancer and a rare auto-immune disease.

Scott Luther, from the Sunshine Coast and Chinchilla, died on Friday February 21, at 4.45pm. He was only 59 years old.

Sunshine Coast local Darcy Haas launched a GoFundMe fundraising campaign to support her family and plan her stepfather’s funeral.

“Scott’s courageous battle came to an end... he was a fighter in every sense of the word... facing small cell lung cancer and the rare Lambert-Eaton Myasthenia Syndrome with incredible strength and resilience,” she said.

“Now, as we face the heartbreaking reality of saying goodbye, we are reaching out for help.”

The Sunshine Coast woman launched a GoFundMe to support her family through their grief.

“The costs of medical treatments, care, and now funeral expenses have placed a heavy burden on our family,” she said.

“We want to honour Scott’s memory with the beautiful service he deserves and support Mim as she navigates this difficult time.

“Scott was not only a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, but also an inspiration to everyone who knew him.”

Ms Haas said he’d always be remembered for his kind heart and country ways.

“Whether he was chasing pigs with his loyal dogs, enjoying a cold beer, or gathering around a bonfire with friends and family.

“We are asking for the support of our friends, family, and community. Any donation, no matter the size, will help us honour Scott’s memory with a proper service at Chinchilla Keatings Funerals.

“If you’re unable to contribute financially, simply sharing this page or keeping Scott’s family in your thoughts and prayers would mean the world to us.

“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love and support.”
