Police say the man, 43, from Lutwyche was riding a white Yamaha along Scarborough Rd in Scarborough when it collided with a blue BMW at the intersection of Maryborough Terrace about 3pm.

Both vehicles were travelling south at the time of the crash.

The motorcyclist suffered critical injuries and despite efforts of bystanders, died at the scene.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

Police are now appealing for witnesses or those with dashcam footage of either the white 2007 Yamaha DZ6N or the blue BMW 520D leading up to the crash, to come forward.

Meanwhile, Brisbane motorists have been asked to avoid Hinkler Court and South Pine Rd in Brendale this morning after a single-vehicle crash which has left a man in a critical condition.

Paramedics are currently on scene treating the driver for critical injuries after his car crashed into a pole about 6.20am.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics believed he was aged in his 60s.

A high acuity team is now preparing to take him to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

Traffic has started to build southbound along South Pine Rd as crews work to make the area safe.
