A well-known Central Queensland businessman has avoided having a recorded conviction after a trespassing offence landed him in court.

Wade Peter Hunt, 47, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court to one count of trespass.

The court heard Hunt went to Kerr Solutions IT in Berserker on April 16 for details about a client who had transferred to him.

Speaking to this publication, Kerr Solutions IT owner Bruce Kerr said he advised Hunt the details would take two hours worth of work to transfer which could be done for emergency rates or they could be done within three to four days.

He said he had previously told Hunt, through a solicitor’s letter, that he was not to attend his business.

Hunt then remained at the premises for a “protracted period of time” despite being told the leave.

The CCTV shows Hunt enter and ask a woman behind the counter if the phone is working.

He goes on to interrupt Mr Kerr while he is serving customers and asking about the client information while trying to record him with his phone.

Mr Kerr says Hunt is “being a p***k” to the customers and during a three minute period the pair discuss the client information and Mr Kerr and an employee ask him to leave.

The three men become aggressive and trade verbal blows.

Hunt is then pushed out by the male staff member, who can be heard saying that Hunt complained it was assault.

Mr Kerr then went to the North Rockhampton Police Station with the two staff members who witnessed the incident.

He said his receptionist was “left fearful” after the incident.

The court heard at the time of the incident Hunt was “under a lot of stress” with his wife being unwell, and he himself was on medication for a medical condition.

Magistrate Grace Kahlert said she took into account Hunt’s plea of guilty came at an early opportunity and described the offending as “out of character”.

She said Hunt had no criminal history and accepted he was remorseful for his actions.

Hunt received a six-month good behaviour bond with a $500 recognisance.

A conviction was not recorded.

Mr Hunt was contacted for comment.
