Queen’s Wharf: everything you want to know

It is the $3.6bn development transforming Brisbane’s skyline, rising from a gigantic hole in the ground to a crane-filled construction site and finally transforming into a world-class entertainment precinct.

The grand opening of the Queen’s Wharf first phase is just weeks away.

Using the interactive below, you can take a tour of the precinct’s initial stage, including the signature Star Grand Hotel, the sprawling Sky Deck that towers over the Brisbane River, Neville Bonner Bridge and the main casino gaming floor.

The grand opening has been a long time coming. Initially scheduled to take place in 2022, it has been delayed three times due to Covid and wild weather, while major partner Star has been rocked by controversy and leadership changes.

A massive event centre including a 1440-seat ballroom with pre-function bar, outdoor terrace and views to the Story Bridge will be ready from August 29.

A host of dining and hospitality venues across levels 5-6, including LiveWire, Sports Bar, Fat Noodle, Food Quarter and Cherry cocktail lounge will also open as part of the first stage.

Star Brisbane CEO Daniel Finch said the precinct was always intended to have a multi-staged opening.

“It was always intended for the planned opening of Queen’s Wharf Brisbane to be a staged process and there will be plenty to embrace and explore from day one,” he said.

Mr Finch said the entertainment and event destinations, riverfront parklands and public art trails would launch progressively from August 29.
