Purga exclusion zone revoked after reports of shots fired at Ipswich home

Three people have been charged with multiple offences, including the serious assault of an officer while armed, after an alleged break-in west of Brisbane forced a neighbourhood to be locked down.

Three people have been charged with multiple offences after an alleged break-in west of Brisbane that forced a neighbourhood to be locked down.

Police made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act in Purga at 5.45pm on Monday, after officers were called to an address on Ipswich Boonah Rd about 4.35pm following reports shots had been fired.

Police say a resident had managed to escape the property uninjured, amid reports three armed people were inside.

“Specialist officers engaged with the group for several hours, before all three were taken into custody around 9:45pm without incident,” police said.

The exclusion zone, which covered Ipswich-Boonah Rd to the west, Hughes Rd to the north, Eastfield Court to the east and Carmichael Rd to the south, was revoked shortly after midnight.

A 29-year-old Willow Vale woman has been charged with two counts of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, and one count each of serious assault officer while armed with a weapon, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, authority required to possess explosives, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

A 32-year-old Kensington Grove man has been charged with two counts of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, and one count each of serious assault officer while armed with a weapon, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, authority required to possess explosives, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

A 34-year-old Nerang man has been charged with two counts of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, and one count each of serious assault officer while armed with a weapon, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, authority required to possess explosives, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

All three people charged by police have been refused bail and will appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court today, Tuesday, May 20.
