A man is in hospital with life-threatening burns following a backyard fire north of Brisbane this afternoon.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said crews were called to a rubbish fire at a private address in Morayfield about 4.45pm, with crews extinguishing the fire within minutes of arrival.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the man in his 30s sustained burns to his arms, chest, neck and groin, and was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition.
