Man charged two months after fatal Mount Isa crash

A man has been charged almost two months to the day after a crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist in North West Queensland.

A man has been charged almost two months to the day after a crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist in North West Queensland.

The 49-year-old Pioneer man was charged over the collision that killed Shane Jennings, 57, on June 15.

Police alleged a blue Toyota Camry and a black Harley Davidson motorbike collided while travelling on Duchess Rd in the Mount Isa suburb of Healy.

Mr Jennings, who was riding the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an extensive investigation, the 49-year-old driver of the Camry voluntarily attended Mount Isa Police Station where he was arrested and charged.

He was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death while adversely affected, excessive speeding, and driving under the influence of liquor.

The man has been granted bail and will reappear in Mount Isa Magistrate Court on Monday, September 2.
