A 19-year-old has been charged over a frightening firebombing which destroyed a Hervey Bay mum’s car.
It comes as fresh video of the sparkler-bomb explosion outside the home of 28-year-old Scarness woman Teegan Walker, also emerges.
Chilling audio recordings of voicemails left on Ms Walker’s phone before her car exploded into flames were exclusively revealed by this publication this week.
The mum had been living in fear after months of menacing messages and is now without her mode of transport, pram and booster seat.
In the lead-up to the bombing, Ms Walker had been receiving strange voicemails left by a number she did not recognise.
One voicemail reveals a recording of Freddy Krueger's theme song in Nightmare on Elm Street, where the distinct lyrics of “one, two, Freddy’s coming for you” can be heard.
Another voicemail depicts Adam Sandler’s Ode to My Car, featuring lyrics such as “what the f*** did I do to get stuck with you”.
Lyrics in Sandler’s song describe how he hates his car, and it is not reliable.
“As a single mum, trying to get a good sleep is hard enough without my phone going off,” Ms Walker said.
Although calls have stopped since the bombing, a feeling of angst remains in her household.
“My family and I are very worried and still on edge,” she said.
“I seriously worry for my family’s safety, especially my three-year-old son.
“I think he feels worried too, which breaks my heart.”
On Wednesday, police confirmed a 19-year-old man had been arrested on March 25 and charged with arson.
It’s understood no charges have been laid regarding the calls and investigations into the source are ongoing.
He will appear in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on April 24.
‘WOKE TO EXPLOSIONS’: YOUNG MUM’S FORD DESTROYED AFTER SINISTER CALLS
Earlier, in the immediate aftermath of the attack, Ms Walker spoke to this publication about what went down in the early hours of Saturday,
The terrifying attack came after months of chilling phone calls – up to 40 a night – where she said sometimes, she could hear a man but mostly news reports about stabbings were played into her ear.
Ms Walker lives with her mother son in a Scarness rental, which was the site of the firebombing.
“My sister heard someone driving past in a really loud car and throwing stuff at the house,” Ms Walker said.
“We woke up to explosions.
“We came out and the car was already on fire and the fireys were already here.”
She found her Ford Falcon station wagon completely burnt out after being set alight by sparkler bombs that had been thrown into its centre console, passenger seat and boot.
“Once that all blew up, it was the end of the car.”
The car had a central locking problem where one door could not be locked, making it as an easy target.
A ball wrapped in duct tape was also found in the alleyway beside her home, which Ms Walker said detectives thought could have been the casing for another sparkler bomb.
The family are now “terrified” that someone from their past is watching them, particularly in light of the menacing phone calls.
“Since November, I’ve been getting 40 phone calls a night,” Ms Walker said.
“It would stop for a couple of weeks and then it would start up again.
“Sometimes I can hear a male clearing his throat, but other times it’s a news recording saying ‘someone was stabbed’ over and over again.
“Why would they call me and play recordings of stabbings?
“And then to do this to my car, I’m even more terrified now.”
With ongoing health problems, having a car is something the young family desperately needs.
“I need the car to get to doctor’s appointments,” Ms Walker said.
“My son is also in the process of a diagnosis which has a lot of appointments as well which we can’t get to now.”
Cameras have been installed on the home’s exterior for better security, while police are continuing to investigate the incident.
A GoFundMe has been set up for the Walker family to help raise funds for a new car, pram, and booster seat.
