Father and son plead guilty to several Covid-19 charges over Byron Bay visit

A father and son who travelled to Byron Bay before testing positive to Covid-19 have pleaded guilty to most breaches.

Port Macquarie and Muswellbrook to enter lockdown

A father and son who travelled to Byron Bay before testing positive for Covid-19, plunging the area into lockdown, have pleaded guilty to several breaches of the state’s virus rules.

Zoran Radovanovic, his son Kristian and another son travelled from Sydney to northern NSW in early August before testing positive, prompting the region to enter a snap lockdown.

Zoran Radovanovic was subsequently charged with seven alleged breaches of Covid-19 directions and Kristian with four.

Neither Radovanovic appeared at Lismore Local Court on Monday as their matter was again mentioned.

Instead, pleas of guilty to most charges the pair face were entered via an email from their solicitor to the court.

Zoran Radovanovic entered guilty pleas to four charges of failing to comply with an electronic registration directive.

But he did not admit to three alleged offences of not complying with a Covid-19 direction.

His matter will return to Lismore Local Court on November 15.

Kristian Radovanovic entered guilty pleas to all four charges he is facing, including two counts of failing to comply with an electronic registration directive, one count of not complying with a Covid-19 direction, and one count of not wearing a mask.

The junior Radovanovic’s court matter will next be mentioned at Waverley Local Court on November 8.

Both men are on bail.
