The coronavirus pandemic shutdown has proved too much for one of Moreton Bay’s favourite Thai restaurants but there is hope for its fans with the owners already planning a new outlet.

A popular northern Brisbane Thai restaurant has had to shut its doors with the coronavirus downturn to blame.

But there is good news with the owners already looking at alternatives to open a new restaurant.

Thai Street Kitchen in Everton Hills announced on social media this week it had closed permanently.

Thai Street Kitchen’s Darika Singthong said the “virus hit us hard”.

They had started in a food trailer for catering just before the coronavirus shut down began.

“We had invested so much money in those,” Ms Singthong said.

Ms Singthong said they had now opened a restaurant in the Myer Centre and loved concentrating on lunches and spending more time with her family.

“I am enjoying the working time in the foodcourt between 10am and 5pm. So I have more time with my kids after work,” she said.

“We just need to balance our life a bit as we have been working really hard during the virus to survive.”

Thai Street Kitchen was the second Thai restaurant to occupy that shop, and Ms Singthong said it would not be the last.

“Someone has already taken over the shop and will trade as a Thai restaurant,” she said.
