Bushmaster army truck rolled by man in his 20s off St Lawrence Rd, Ogmore

A man in his 20s has been injured in an army truck rollover on a busy highway in Central Queensland.

An army truck has rolled over on the Bruce Hwy halfway between Rockhampton and Mackay, injuring a man in his 20s.

Paramedics and fire crews were called to the St Lawrence Rd section of the Bruce in Ogmore at about 2.30pm today after reports of a 13-tonne Bushmaster vehicle being rolled.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said two people were involved in an incident with a Bushmaster vehicle, including a man in his 20s who suffered minor leg injuries.

Both were able to free themselves from the vehicle.

The Defence website notes the Bushmaster vehicles can deploy up to 10 battle-ready troops, is blast resistant, has air-conditioning and can sustain itself for up to three days.

The vehicle’s welded one-piece shell is “designed to protect troops against all small arms fire”, and its windows feature “ballistic protection”.

The Department of Defence has been contacted for comment.
