Brisbane’s peak-hour traffic was thrown into chaos this morning after a fiery crash prompted the shutdown of city-bound lanes of the Pacific Motorway.
Motorists travelling northbound on the motorway near Upper Mount Gravatt were delayed for more than an hour after the two-vehicle crash.
All northbound lanes were initially closed near Klumpp Rd just before 7am, with one reopening about 7.30am.
But heavy congestion continued for more than two hours with traffic at a standstill for more than 15km back to Slacks Creek before starting to flow.
According to Queensland Police, two lanes of the Pacific Motorway had re-opened by 8.30am, while the third lane was expected to re-open soon after 10am.
Buses were also caught up in the chaos, with several cancellations as a result of the delays.
It is understood no one was seriously injured, though fire crews found one car fully engulfed in flames on arrival. The flames were doused by 7.20am.
The Queensland Ambulance Service said no patients required transport to hospital.
