Move over Fighting Schoolteacher, here’s the Fighting Policewoman.

Constable Beck Hawker has won every major Australian National Boxing Federation title in the past 13 months, all while being a full-time Brisbane officer.

She started boxing almost 10 years ago to lose weight and get fit.

After a coach asked her to have “a spar with the boys” she came to realise she had a knack for boxing.

“I thought, you know what, I’m pretty good at this,” she said.

Constable Hawker is the fighter everyone wants to beat in the featherweight division.

Unfortunately for them, it’s said she has a pretty good shot at retaining her ANBF title next year.

“I was amateur for about eight years and I travelled overseas and internationally … and then about 13 months ago we decided to go professional and I have won every major ANBF in the past 13 months,” Constable Hawker said.

While she may have superb boxing skills, Constable Hawker has never had to use them on duty.

She said the police academy stressed the importance of resolving conflict without violence. She joined the force four years ago after moving to Australia from England in 2010.

“I’ve always wanted to join the job,” she said.

While working full-time, Constable Hawker trains six days a week for more than two hours each day and says she can’t imagine leaving either profession.
