Brisbane man charged over theft of delivery vehicle

A Brisbane man has been charged after he allegedly stole and dangerously drove off with a delivery driver’s vehicle.

A Brisbane man has been charged after he allegedly stole and dangerously drove off with a delivery driver’s vehicle on Monday morning.

North Brisbane police allege that around 2:30am, a 22-year-old delivery man was out of his vehicle on Denman Street, Alderley, when a 26-year-old man approached him, pushed him over and stole his vehicle.

Officers intercepted the vehicle on Denman Street within minutes of the incident occurring.

It was alleged that the stolen vehicle struck the rear of the police car in an attempt to flee, causing damage, before officers quickly arrested the man.

A further search of the vehicle allegedly located a backpack containing a knife and housebreaking implements.

No one was injured.

The 26-year-old Alderley man was charged with seven offences including one count each of robbery, unlawful use of motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, damaging emergency vehicle when operating motor vehicle, possess instrument of house breaking, possession of knife in a public place and possess utensil for use.

He was remanded in custody and was expected to reappear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 18.
