Hundreds of fans and VIPs gathered at Northshore Brisbane on Tuesday night to celebrate the official opening of Bluey’s World, an immersive experience bringing Australia’s beloved animated series Bluey to life.
The blue carpet event featured hosts Dan Brumm and Melanie Zanetti, the voices behind Bandit and Chilli, with a musical performance by Bluey composer Joff Bush and special guest Megan Washington, whose song “Lazarus Drug” is featured in the show.
Spanning 4,000 square metres, Bluey’s World offers visitors a chance to step into iconic locations from the Heeler family’s home, including the living room, the girls’ bedroom, the playroom, kitchen and backyard.
The experience includes interactive activities like “Keepy Uppy” and “Magic Xylophone,” a playground inspired by Bluey’s Brisbane neighbourhood, and food inspired by the series, such as spring rolls from Golden Crown Takeaway and pizza from Pizza Girl’s.
Director of Brands and Licensing for BBC Studios ANZ, Kate O’Connor, said the creation of Bluey’s World was a dream come true, aiming to deliver an “authentic, hands-on experience” that mirrors the show’s charm and encourages family connection.
“Every element has been carefully curated to reflect the authenticity that Bluey fans expect,” O’Connor said.
Bluey’s World is expected to draw in hundreds of thousands of visitors over the next 11 months, contributing an estimated $18 million to the local economy.
Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner highlighted the event as a showcase of Brisbane’s unique lifestyle, saying, “We can’t wait to roll out the blue carpet and share our fantastic lifestyle with the world.”
“The highly-anticipated Bluey’s World experience will bring fans from across the world to Brisbane, creating more to see and do in our city, boosting our economy and supporting local jobs.”
With international fans already flocking to Bluey’s World, producer Andrew Kay noted the global appeal of the show.
“It’s amazing to see families flying in from places like Colombia, Japan, and the U.S. to experience Bluey’s World,” he said.
The attraction is set to run through September 2025, with potential for an extended stay if demand continues.
