Bindi and Robert Irwin have taken to social media to farewell a beloved Australia Zoo family member.
The unnamed pet echidna had been a part of the family since before either Irwin sibling was born.
“Saying goodbye to our beautiful family member of 38 years. The sweetest, kindest, most wonderful echidna you ever did meet. Rest In Peace, angel,” Bindi wrote.
Photos posted to Instagram overnight show the wildlife warriors posing with the echidna.
Robert Irwin shared his sister’s post with a heartbroken emoji.
One of the photos show the siblings with Irwin matriarch Terri, while others show Bindi and her daughter, Grace, petting their thorny friend.
Bindi and husband Chandler Powell are also seen cozying up with the beloved “family member.”
