Athletics champion Sally Pearson hints she is expecting her first child with husband Kieran

QUEENSLAND’S golden girl Sally Pearson is set to fulfil her dream of starting a family.
The Olympic hurdling champion, who retired from athletics five months ago, announced this morning that she is expecting her first child with husband and high school sweetheart Kieran Pearson.
In a cryptic announcement, Pearson, 33, shared an image to Instagram of a pair of her running shoes with a pair of baby shoes between them.

She later shared another image of her and Kieran holding up the shoes and an ultrasound image of their bub.
“My husband Kieran and I are pleased to announce that we are expecting our first child,” Pearson wrote.
“To start the next chapter of our lives with such joy and love is more than we could’ve ever hoped for. We are looking forward to meeting our little one in July this year, just before the Tokyo Olympics start!! Gotta start them young.”
After announcing her retirement in August, she spoke of her dreams of starting a family once the shock of giving up her career had worn off.
“I guess that’s the next step isn’t it?” Pearson said at the time.
“We actually sit down and really talk about when might be the right time to focus on making a family. Obviously we’d love to have kids but we’re not sure when yet. I’m still very selfish … I’ve still got an athlete’s head on.
Sally and Kieran have been together since high school, attending Helensvale State High on the Gold Coast.
They married in 2010, two years before she won Gold at the London Olympics.
The pair share two rescue dogs, 10-year-old golden retriever Oscar and 13-year-old greyhound Kayla, both of whom were rescued from the Queensland Animal Welfare League.
