ARIA Award-winning singer-songwriter Amy Shark has unveiled a gritty first look at her upcoming acting debut, sharing a series of behind-the-scenes photos from the set of The Beast In Me.
On Sunday, Shark posted 19 candid images to Instagram, captioned, “Hey, I’m Rose, I’m an MMA fighter,” offering fans their first real glimpse of her transformation from singer-songwriter to on-screen fighter.
The Stan original film sees the pop star and Australian Idol judge swap her signature top knot for combat-ready braids as she steps into the role of a fierce mixed martial arts champion.
The photos show Shark on set in Bangkok, dressed in sports bras and bruised makeup, posing alongside co-stars including Russell Crowe and George Burgess.
While news of her casting first surfaced earlier this year, the new images mark the first substantial teaser from the closely guarded production, which wrapped filming in Thailand and is now in post-production.
Directed by Tyler Atkins and co-written by Crowe and Land of Bad’s David Frigerio, The Beast In Me follows Patton James (Daniel MacPherson), a retired MMA fighter and devoted family man who is reluctantly drawn back into the ring to support his injured brother and keep his family afloat.
The film boasts a stacked Australian cast including Crowe, Luke Hemsworth, Bren Foster, Mojean Aria, and Saphira Moran, with Shark making her acting debut in the role of Rose, a cage fighter navigating the brutal, male-dominated world of professional combat sports.
Back in January, Shark hinted at the project on social media.
“I’m in Bangkok for the next week to become a movie star,” Shark posted to Instagram, holding the film script.
A release date for The Beast In Me is yet to be announced.
