A Wynnum grandfather got the shock of his life this morning after learning he had won the entire jackpot in last night’s mega $31m Powerball draw.
The man was contacted this morning by an official from The Lott telling him that he held the only division one winning entry nationally in Powerball draw 1523, scooping a total of $31,140,405.47.
The stunned winner had not even checked his ticket.
“Holy sh-t. Wow. Unbelievable,” he said.
“Oh, my goodness. Words can’t explain how I’m feeling right now. Dear, dear, dear.
“This does so much for my family. It’ll set up my kids and grandkids.
“Never in a million years did I think I would get this call.
“I’ve lived a happy life and I’ve been lucky enough to tick most things off my bucket list, so this will be used more for helping others.
“I just can’t believe it. I had absolutely no idea. The most I’ve ever won is a chocolate Easter basket.’’
The unnamed man said he had played the same numbers for years. He usually played Saturday Gold Lotto but sometimes Powerball when it had a higher jackpot.
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1523 were: 2, 25, 6, 4, 31, 34 and 19. The Powerball number was 20.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 242 so far in 2025, including 55 won by Golden Casket customers.
Of the 21 Powerball division one winning entries last year, six were in Queensland.
Tuesday’s Oz Lotto is offering up to $20m.
