POLICE have arrested a man following an all-in brawl at an amateur league football match last night at Smithfield.

POLICE have arrested a man following an all-in brawl at an amateur league football match last night at Smithfield.

The fight involved up to 20 people in the car park of the football club on Anderson Walk, where Smithfield were playing against Ingle Farm in a Division 7 match.

Initial reports of a man being "bottled" and a weapon being produced have been dismissed by police.

"Police were called to Smithfield Oval where there was a brawl between about 20 people in the car park," a police spokesman said.

"There were no reports of injuries and no reports of weapons. Patrols made one arrest."

A senior coach at Ingle Farm Football Club declined to comment.

"It is a legal matter for the police to investigate," he said.

Smithfield Football Club were unavailable for comment.
