Veteran broadcaster Ray Hadley has taken aim at laws allowing a convicted pedophile to be back on the streets, saying if he had his way the former teacher would be locked up for good.

It comes after former Trinity Grammar teacher Neil Futcher, who was jailed for a maximum of 18 years and four months in the Sydney District Court in 2017, failed to appeal his sentence of 11 years prison on Friday.

Despite rejection of Futcher’s appeal, which came more than 30 years after he repeatedly molested six boys under his care on school camps and during other extra-curricular activities, Hadley said the case shone a light on the ”inadequate sentencing of pedophiles”.

He said the impact on victims was much worse than the jail sentence he received.

“he could be out of jail with parole in September 2027 … a little over two years from now he could be walking among us”.

“They (his victims) get a life sentence, he gets parole.”
