Telstra charge $12,000 for a travel pass that didn’t even work

RACHEL Yeung paid Telstra $300 for an international mobile “travel pass” before she took off for a one month trip to Asia.
But when Ms Yeung arrived in the Land of the Rising Sun and turned on her phone she got a message indicating the pass wasn’t working.
She told Telstra, repeatedly, and was assured everything would be sorted out.
It wasn’t.
When she got back to Sydney, Telstra took $12,000 from her bank account.
She tried to resolve the situation with Telstra again.

Didn’t work. She turned to NSW Fair Trading. Still no fix.
Finally, after involving the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, Telstra vowed to refund.
Then it failed to do so.
But, following The Daily Telegraph’s intervention, it has.
“Her order was not properly entered into the system at our end and unfortunately that not only led to the wrong charges being recorded but also to delays in the issue being resolved,” they said.
Ms Yeung is grateful the “horrible” experience is over.
