Brendan asks:

My four-year-old had a stroke in March. He had been in a hospital for the week prior for his symptoms but they didn’t do a CAT scan, which would have found the clots on his brain. He had to have an emergency craniotomy and had to wear a protective helmet for months. Thankfully he’ll make an almost full recovery. Do we have grounds for medical negligence?

Brydens answers:

The fact there has been a poor outcome from treatment is not in itself sufficient. It would be necessary to recover all treating and clinical records and have some reviewed by an expert to determine whether there has been any failing or neglect.
