Question: I was molested by my mother’s boyfriend around 28 years ago. Is there anything I can do about that?

Answer: First, the matter should be brought to the attention of the NSW Police Force. Further you may have rights to claim compensation through the Victims Compensation Tribunal. Then there is the prospects of bringing a claim directly against the perpetrator. But a question does arise as to the capacity of the perpetrator to meet any judgment debt. If they do not have funds that could be called on to meet a judgment debt there may be little point in pursuing something that simply results in a hollow victory.
