Piers Akerman: Young climate change cultists giving their views with no expertise

Xiye Bastida, a 19-year-old Mexican, has joined veteran school avoider Greta Thunberg as a teenager who puts forth their views on climate change with no knowledge to back it up.

'Poor old Greta's now history': Thunberg overshadowed by rising star Xiye Bastida

Globally, we must be reaching peak stupidity. When 40 world leaders are lectured by a precocious teenager with no scientific background on the hotly contested concept of catastrophic man-made global warming and nod like circus ponies as they are lambasted about “colonialism, oppression, capitalism and market-oriented brainwashed solutions”, something is very wrong.

Yet there they were, and Prime Minister Scott Morrison was among those who zoomed into a meeting during which all the usual problems with virtual meetings played out — some were muted, some just couldn’t manage the technology — but that didn’t stop US Secretary of State Antony Blinken introducing Mexican-born Xiye Bastida, a 19-year-old student to harangue the viewers.

Bastida was probably chosen as her partner in the Friday school strikes racket, Greta Thunberg, was tied up scolding the US Congress over the use of fossil fuels via a virtual speech to the House Oversight Committee.

Thunberg, who is funded by an activist group and grew up in an activist household, urged her audience to “listen to and act on the science, and to use your common sense”.

Anyone with a skerrick of common sense should have closed their computer at that point. Neither Bastida, Thunberg or the legions of climate extinction cultists who follow their rants have a clue about the myriad factors at play in Earth’s ever-changing climate.

According to Bastida, the so-called global climate emergency was caused by the powerful in society who are “perpetuating and upholding the harmful systems of colonialism, oppression, capitalism and market-oriented brainwashed solutions”.

Climate justice is social justice, she said, among other inane claims for which she was praised by Blinken and US President Joe Biden’s climate envoy John Kerry.

“I hope you’ve been encouraged and inspired, even, as we know, as Xiye said in her vibrant comments of frustration with we adults — alleged adults, we need to get the job done,” enthused Kerry, who, like former US Vice President Al Gore, is responsible for emitting quantities of emissions to rival the output of several towns and villages.

Not surprisingly, the ABC’s commentariat were unanimously enthusiastic at the prospect of US President Biden taking up the climate catastrophe baton last lofted by a predecessor Barack Obama, so besotted is the taxpayer-funded broadcaster with the prospect of working to smash the capitalist system and plunge the Western world back into a de-industrialised medieval darkness. Indeed, and not surprisingly, the ABC news after the funeral of Prince Philip, led with a tribute from the naturalist David Attenborough though it should have known that the late Duke of Edinburgh was actually a realist — someone whom the ABC’s clique would sneer at as a climate sceptic.

Just three years ago, Prince Philip sent the renowned Australian geologist and author Professor Ian Plimer a glowing note on Windsor Castle stationery thanking and praising him for his work in exposing the global warming cult.

“I find it frustrating, as a lay person, to find answers to technical questions,” The Duke wrote.

“You see gigantic wind turbines appearing all over the country, but there is very little about the practical value of these monstrosities. Your book demolishes the fictions created by wishful thinking. When will common sense and good science prevail, and what happens if does not so fairly soon?”

According to the global warmists, the end of the world as we know it should have happened a number of times over the past 30 years but fortunately their “science-based” modelling has been so far off the mark the planet is greening faster than ever and more people have been lifted from poverty and (with the exception of those affected by the Wuhan virus) are healthier than ever because of the benefits brought about by the development of fossil fuels as both energy sources and pharmaceutical bases.

When economic and social justice factors are being blamed for natural physical climate change and world leaders accept such delusions as truth, we are in serious trouble.

Only products of a dumbed-down education system could claim such nonsense has any scientific validity.

What is certain is that there will be a collapse of society but it won’t be because of climate change but because of political surrender to the woke warriors.
