Piers Akerman: Let 2020 be the year the world learns to face facts

Most Australians aren’t racist, misogynistic, transphobic, Islamophobic members of alt-Right gun clubs, but that would not be apparent to followers of the ABC. Cats aren’t dogs and men, really, truly, cannot give birth, Piers Akerman writes.

Getting sacked for stating there are two sexes 'beyond the realm of parody'

Let 2020 be the year the world turns on “fake” news and politically correct falsehoods embraced by the so-called “woke” generation.

It shouldn’t be too hard. Though they are very, very noisy, there aren’t really that many of them as the elections of Donald Trump, Scott Morrison and Boris Johnson demonstrate.

But there are a lot of people in the media who see their role as being at the cutting edge of extremist progressive thinking and providing opposition to the views of the broader centrists.

Remember the surprise shown on the faces of the BBC presenters less than a fortnight ago when Mr Johnson was re-elected UK prime minister with an increased majority?

It was the same as the shock with which the ABC’s staff greeted Mr Morrison’s election last May and the dismay with which both the ABC and BBC staffers, along with the editorial floor of the New York Times responded to Mr Trump’s 2016 election.

They all got it so wrong because each of these entities operates in a tiny echo chamber in which they agree to agree with each other and permit no alternate commentators.

We know this from their ABC — it is not ours, although we pay the taxes which provide the salaries and maintenance of this huge monolithic bureaucratic misinformation machine.

No, it is very much their ABC, that of the ultra-Green activist Leftists who inhabit the inner urban suburbs and, no matter how frequently ABC chair Ita Buttrose puts them on a bus to Bankstown, the views of those who actually dictate the politics within the Ultimo-based empire aren’t going to change.

Should the federal government or Ms Buttrose actually require the ABC staffers to abide by the charter and present unbiased information, there would be a scream heard from Kakadu to Kangaroo Island and beyond.

The readily offended would take huge offence because their views would not be presented first on the ABC’s flagship programs, be they Q&A or on Radio National.

The LGBTQIXYZ+ people would not find themselves sharing prime positions on the news list with the Greens and the climate change cultists.

The news might actually be prioritised according to its relevance to everyday Australians who go to work and pay their taxes — not the alternate lifestylers and the drug addicts and the other minorities.

Its employees are so “woke” that any new fad is to be elevated and held up as the standard which the rest of society should not only unquestioningly accept but also embrace.

The new cause is to elevate transgender individuals to the pantheon of history’s freedom fighters.

As if, according to Medicare which has well and truly swallowed the Kool-Aid, 22 “men” gave birth during the 2018-19 financial year, out of more than 35,000 people to give birth nationwide.

So .06285 per cent of the births were to individuals who identified as “men”, though as any biologist would admit, only naturally-born women have the genetic ability to become pregnant and the so-called “men” were women who underwent hormone treatment and, most probably, artificial insemination to become pregnant and join what are now called “seahorse” parents.

That is “men” who, like the male seahorse, carry fertilised eggs until they are hatched and young seahorses leave their father’s pouch to swim free.

These “men” are able to legally identify as such under fad-based legislation which defies logic and biology but in an age in which it is easier for legislators to defy science and logic in the face of shrill shrieks from upset activists, “seahorses” they have become.

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling came under fire last week for a tweet which defended a woman who was recently fired for saying transgender women are not women.

In the UK, Maya Forstater lost her job as a tax expert with an NGO after posting a series of tweets in opposition to the UK government’s proposed plan to reform the Gender Recognition Act to allow people to change their legal gender.

In one of her series of tweets, Ms Forstater said: “My belief as I set out in my witness statement is that sex is a biological fact and is immutable. There are two sexes. Men are male. Women are female. It is impossible to change sex. These were until very recently understood as basic facts of life.”

But facts, these days, are as fluid as the water in which a cat swam in Scotland Island’s famed Christmas Eve dog race on Tuesday.

Of course it was the infamous preference whisperer Glenn Druery who decided to reap a little silly season publicity by attempting to enter his cat in the race. The cat was rejected.

That wouldn’t stop The Silly Morning Herald claiming the feline came first in the cat category, even though there was no such category and the prime beneficiary of the attention was Druery.

In 2020, let’s face facts. Cats aren’t dogs and men, really, truly, cannot give birth.
