Miranda Devine: Joe Biden gives Big Tech a ‘like’ for their help

Facebook, Twitter, and Google employees are all cashing in with Biden administration jobs after their companies helped suppress embarassing information, writes Miranda Devine

Joe Biden has historically been 'notoriously soft on China'

Big Tech repeatedly flexed its power during the US election campaign — it suppressed information unfavourable to Joe Biden, energetically affixed warning labels to President Trump’s Twitter feed, rigged searches and selectively sent out vote reminders to lefties but not conservatives.

Now Biden is inviting Big Tech inside his administration to further entrench their power. This is their reward for successfully censoring the New York Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story.

Well done, Twitter, for locking the Post’s account for two weeks before the election so no one could read about the scandal implicating one of the two presidential candidates in a foreign influence peddling scheme.

Well done, Facebook, for throttling the Post’s story pending fact-checking by dubious probity experts — two months later there’s no sign of a single fact checked. We know from polls that if the full story of the Biden family’s cash-for-influence operation had been allowed to be told before the election it likely would have changed votes.

Almost 50 per cent of Biden voters knew nothing about the Hunter Biden scandal according to polling by the Media Research Centre, and 9.4 per cent said they would not have voted for Joe had they known.

As well, in the wake of unprecedented early voting due to the pandemic this election, Google searches for “change my vote” spiked in the days after the Post’s October 14 exposé.

Suppressing the story amounted to election interference by Big Tech.

The quid pro quo is they get jobs in the Biden administration. At last count Biden’s transition advisers include at least six recent employees from Facebook, two from Twitter, two from Amazon, and one from Google.

That’s  a  nice thank you for a job well done.
