Erin Molan: Why Donald Trump is the American President we need right now

Like us all, Trump is not perfect. But in the ways that really matter for our troubled world right now, writes Erin Molan, he is precisely what we need.

Lefties losing it: All the best meltdowns after Donald Trump’s victory

They still don’t get it.

Not even a walloping at the ballot box is enough to put just a flicker of doubt in the ingenious minds of those who are now crying blue murder at the election of Donald Trump.

A quick scroll of any social media app will show you just how unhinged they have become. Yes – they, not he.

The front cover of Vanity Fair challenged their graphic designers by extensively listing the following highlights: “24 felony counts, 1 conviction, 2 cases pending, 2 impeachments, 6 bankruptcies, 4 more years. The 47th American President.”

A slew of Hollywood stars lamenting the fact that their daughters are now in danger – that this “animal” is back in power (that’s those who didn’t later admit to voting for him, of course).

The same loud, woke voices promising to leave America in droves, in disgust, because this man once spoke about a woman “disparagingly”.

Let me now tell you who these people also are.

The ones now protesting at the top of their hoarse voices about Trump’s character – particularly in relation to women – they are the exact same people who justified the horrors of October 7, who denied mass rape in Israel, who scream in the face of elderly Jewish ladies outside civic, cultural and shopping centres.

You see where I’m going with this.

The hypocrisy, the convenient disregard for a contemporary tragedy, but horror at something much less severe, is mind-blowing but unsurprising.

Yes Donald Trump has said things throughout his life that don’t sit well with many, many people.

Yes, he’s used inappropriate language.

Yes, he has shunned the art of fake yet polished etiquette to a far greater extent than we have come to expect from the leaders of our political class.

Yes, he’s been accused of behaviour involving women that he vehemently denies – but do you know what he’s also done?

Stood tall against terror.

Stood up to evil.

Fought for his people.

Called out Hamas, and Hezbollah, and the Houthis, and Iran.

Following his re-election, Trump used his first moments behind a microphone to demand the release of all hostages held by Hamas “or else”.

Like us all, Trump is not perfect. But in the ways that really matter for our troubled world right now, in my view he is precisely what we need.

Have you wondered why so many Muslims in America supported Trump? I’ll tell you. Because they hate terrorism and extremism more than we do. It hurts them and their communities more than us.

They know the only way peace will ever be achieved in the Middle East is through unwavering strength.

Imagine how effectively Israel and its (supposed) allies can rid the world of these evil regimes without the likes of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s weak and duplicitous rhetoric.

Standing with Israel against terror is as critical for innocent Palestinian kids as it is for Jews and the rest of us.

Eliminating the evil toxicity they spread is as fundamental for the children of Lebanon as it is for those in the north of Israel.

Trump scares those who wish us harm, and for good reason. Are you weighing up whether the Supreme Leader of Iran is feeling better or worse now?

I can assure the curious world, no matter what might be floated out there publicly, it will be the latter.

No human being is perfect, and we are all flawed – to vastly differing extents – but given the two options available to the privileged citizens of the United States, and those of us lucky enough to be privileged citizens of the free world, I believe this result means we have won a million times over.

So while the leftist elites wax lyrical about how ashamed they are, how angry they are, and how hurt they are that Trump won, remember all of this.

They are the very same people who not only denied the innocent trauma of men, women and children in Israel, but instead sided with the terrorists who perpetrated this brutality.

Waved their flags in our streets.

Chanted their slogans.

So forgive me if I’m not particularly moved by their apparent pain.

It’s hollow. It’s shallow and it’s completely hypocritical.

When will they learn that actions and policy matter more than any preposterous ideology that serves no one except them?

Judging by Kamala’s concession speech – never.
